Prayer and Praise Night

As a reminder, there will be a time of prayer and singing this coming Saturday (3/24) at the Brandt’s. It will start at 7pm and end around 8-8:30. Afterwards there will be snacks and games. I look forward to seeing you there!

  1. This comment has nothing to do with the prayer and praise night…..though I do want to thank those who organized it. It was a great time! I just don’t know how to post a new blog because I’m technologically challenged. So I’m “replying” to this one. Anyway….

What I’m really writing about is our new series on Bible study in ABF. Thanks guys for starting this series and for all your effort in preparing. I thought I’d write to hopefully encourage you and everyone else that God is already working through this little series. Last week Phil asked us to write down some specific things that we need to change in regards to the Scripture (or something like that.) I decided that I need to engage better in my personal reading by writing down some key thoughts as I read, and then using those thoughts to guide my prayer. duh…I’ve known I needed to do that forever, but have somehow gotten out of the habit. Since last May I’ve been trying to read through the entire Bible. I’m moving along okay in the New Testament, but the Old Testament has been painfully slow. I’ve been stuck in Leviticus and Numbers for what seems like forever. (and it’s honestly because I think it’s boring and don’t read it :) ) So today I remembered what a wrote down in ABF and decided I outta try it out, and Numbers 11 came alive. Thank God. Who knew that I could learn and be convicted about the issue of complaining through the book of Numbers. There were some very clear lessons for me to learn in that chapter and the tiny extra steps taken to actually study God’s Word were a tremendous help. My attitude towards these books was pretty awful, thinking nothing applied to my life….the encouragement about the importance of scripture (even books I don’t understand) was exactly what I needed. Praise God for the work he’s doing through ABF, even in small ways. So yeah…that’s my contribution to this blog. I was just very excited about my time in the Word today :)
